Our story
Whitetail Valley Farm In 2010 the Kutzli family bought land near Viking Lake State Park. We named it Whitetail Valley Farm after the many deer that share the land with us. Today, three generations of our family live on the farm. Whitetail Valley Orchards Our apples grow in a traditional Swiss meadow orchard called a Streuobstwiese. It has trees of multiple varieties and ages. We grow rare vintage apples chosen for their taste contributions to our apple wines. Trees spread out across the hillsides so sun and breeze can reach the fruit. Sustainably managed, nature functions here with little use of chemicals. Apples are for sale at the farm as they ripen between September and November. Whitetail Valley Cellars Winery The Kutzli Family ancestral home was the Rhine Valley wine region of Switzerland. As an orchard farm, we specialize in fruit wine. Small carefully crafted batches of apple wine and other fruit wines are made with old world quality which our Swiss ancestors would approve. Our wines are crafted to express the nature of the land. As we say, "Taste an Iowa Summer in Every Glass!"™ Truly a family operation, every stage of crafting our wine is done by our family. Our goal is not to be a large winery. Our goal is to make the best wine. As the Swiss say, “Kleine aber Fein”, small but excellent. Das Stübli Tasting Room Inspired by small wineries of rural Switzerland, we call our tasting room "Das Stübli" which means, "The Gathering Place." We feature cheeses from small makers and charcuterie meats from small Iowa farms. We have Swiss chocolates to enjoy. With a relaxed feeling, comfortable seating and cozy fireplace nook, all overlooking the scenic valley our tasting room is a great place to enjoy a feeling of comfort, relaxation and peace. Grampaw's Punkin Patch We first planted pumpkins for our grandkids and the idea caught on. Each year we celebrate fall in the country. Come and experience Whitetail Valley!Customer Reviews
